This is an early war pattern coat. The 49th Regiment of Foot, known as “the Green Tigers,” served with distinction during the War of 1812, at battles such as Queenston Heights and Crysler’s Farm. The 49th was home regiment to Major-General Sir Isaac Brock, and he was leading men from the regiment when he was fatally shot at Queenston Heights.
